Syllable counter

We may write reams and reams of poetry, but when we attempt to formalize the structure of our poems, in our bid to share them with poetry aficionados, we must pay deference to the rules that would birth the formal structure of our choice. The rules may pertain to the number of lines, as in four lines make a quartet, the rhyme scheme, the number of syllables that each line can have, the meter and so on and so forth.
